In the words of the artist...
For me art is a thing that rides the
ground between reality, the dream
state and the vast unknown. Still,
I have always tried to reflect in my
art the things that influence me in
my daily life. Adding to the mix an
off kilter touch that crosses
boundaries between humanity,
earth and the spiritual worlds.
Growing up along the rivers, inlets
and estuaries of the Chesapeake
Bay I was always interested in
the things that would find their
way to me. Whether it was a
water soaked, graying, old boat
bottom or a glass net float that
might have spent decades on the
ocean, it was and continues to be
intriguing and inspirational. These
objects carry with them a secret
story waiting to be told.
Nowadays I wander the driftwood
magnet confines of the small
bays and inlets of the Central
Coast. I am still much amused as
I was as a youth by the things I
find, the hidden stories that they
reflect and the inspiration that is
transferred to my hand.
Materials: Driftwood, ceramic

barnacles, kelp roots, tempera
